Tomes of Transcendence
Delve into a poem world where forbidden knowledge and mystical secrets beckon the brave, at the peril of their very souls...
A Brief Intro
"Tomes of Transcendence" is a gothic horror poem that embraces the intellectual pursuit of forbidden knowledge.
Today, I chose to explore the word prompt 'jouissance,' a term that originally denotes intense physical pleasure but has been expanded in literary and philosophical contexts to represent a transcendental experience that pushes the boundaries of understanding and sensation.
This poem weaves a tale of scholars, alchemists, and seers who delve into the mystical and the unknown, each driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge that skirts the edges of danger. It captures the allure and peril of seeking truths best left hidden, inviting the reader into a world where the pursuit of such profound jouissance can be as intoxicating as it is destructive.
In the library’s midnight hold, where ancient tomes whisper untold,
the scholars’ jouissance lies in secrets bold.
Pages turn, minds burn, in arcane dances they yearn,
touching the divine, but dare not too deep—they might never return.
Deep within chambers where shadows conspire,
jouissance ignites in the alchemist's fire.
Potions seek eternity’s thread, glowing with a fervent red,
but tread too far, and sanity sheds—consumed by the very zeal they spread.
Beneath the crescent moon’s watchful prediction,
the seer finds jouissance in the chill of premonition.
Visions weave where time and truth collide,
glimpses of beyond where dark secrets abide.
Yet, with each sight, a shadow grows—some truths are best left to hide.
