Intro

In response to a recent #horrorprompt on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter), I was inspired to write a Rannaigheact Mhor poem. The prompt word was ‘rely’, and I chose to explore it within the splatterpunk horror genre. Below is the result of this creative challenge, blending traditional poetic structure with dark and gruesome imagery.

Crimson claws clutch, shadows cry,
Blood-drenched streets scream silent pain,
Sickly smiles on faces sly,
Dark delight in death’s domain.

Grisly ghosts of fear rely,
On blood’s bitter, vile refrain,
Splatter stains where corpses lie,
Relent’s rot in ruined rain.

Twisted tendons torn, they tie,
Viscera’s vile embrace plain,
Maggots move in sockets dry,
Life and death in cruel chain.

Savage screams and tearing sky,
In agony’s endless reign,
Horrors hunger, never shy,
Relentless in their disdain.
